A little living room update since my last update!
I really didn’t want to buy a new coffee table, but the one we currently use I got as a sophomore in college at a scratch and dent sale. Lets just say it has seen better days.
I’m constantly amazed at the power of a fresh coat of paint and this project was no different. Edith and I made a impromptu Home Depot run and after getting some spray primer and some paint, I was ready to tackle this DIY during nap time.
You’ll see that I initially went with a peacock blue. BOLD color choice from me and it only took about 3 hours after the second coat was on for me to realize I needed to bring the color waaaay down. So, we once again blindly chose a paint color and hoped for the best. It’s still quite the pop, but I think I like it! Which is good, because I don’t think I have the drive to paint this sucker again 🙂
Happy Friday! This week sure did fly by! I find that short work weeks are more stressful because you’re really just cramming 5 days of work into 4. Anyone agree? Per usual, we kept busy ’round the clock here at the farm. Here are some scenes from the week:
I wrote a post about painting the french doors the wrong color. Sure do hope I get motivated to find the right color because this isn’t the most polished look for our living room…
I had a super rewarding week ‘at’ work last week so I decided to treat myself with some personalized pencils for my desk. While I thought about branching out and getting a bold color, I kept is classic with my current obsession of black and brass. I also got a tiny succulent friend to keep my client book company.
As I mentioned, we decided on Wednesday at about 8pm that we should paint the office. Some of you joined in on the fun via Instagram (#shamelessplugtofollowme) Since I spend a lot of my non baby time in here, it quickly jumped to the top of the makeover list. I’ll do a full post on it next week, but I kept the black and brass theme going. So far, I love it! Except for that right now everything is in shambles…
I hope y’all enjoy your weekend! We’ll be finishing up the office and laundry room. Busy, busy!
Hope y’all had a long, enjoyable weekend! We worked feverishly trying to finish up the laundry room construction (updates to come!), had dinner with friends and started to sort out some quick ways to apply some character onto our blanker canvases.
That brings us into the living room. You may have noticed on the house tour that the living/dining room is one looooong white room. We have a double set of french doors that lead out onto the deck that we think, if painted, could serve as almost a period at the end of the proverbial sentence that is the room. As a refresh, here’s the room currently:

I think it’ll do the trick, don’t you? So, I did what any responsible and patient person would do and quickly went to Home Depot without doing much research on color schemes and picked out I thought would work from memory. Whoops.
Way too dark! I was hoping for a french gray-ish, but this is more like a dark mushroom. I don’t necessarily want the doors to demand attention like they would in this dark of a color. Like the Country Living image above, I want them to bring a polished warmth. So, back to the drawing board on the color. We might just desaturate the above to 75% and see where that gets us. We’ll also get some new door hardware and am really loving all things Baldwin, like this guy: Hopefully we’ll find the right color/hardware combo in the next couple of weeks as I’m itching to get something started in that room!
Also, because I’m so excited, here’s a sneak peak at the progress on the DIY encasement in the laundry room. Jay’s been working hard and it’s starting to really pay off!
